Chemicals for Fleas, Ticks and Misquotes will shorten your dogs life.
I never use chemicals on my dogs.! I give them heart guard only in the summer to reduce the chemicals in their body-and only the strip down version of heartguard. The other ones with the built in flea and tick prevention are a over load of chemicals. I make my own home-made all natural remedies for the others . I will post the ingredients down below. Heart guard is a must but the others you can do at home yourself!!!!! Just always get the lime vaccine if you live in the woods where ticks are. If your dog has this vaccine then if they get bit by a tick they are more protected from the virus.
Use your all natural remedies for the ticks and bugs... Keep your dog chemical free!!!!! Including junky food and treats! Keep them healthy or you will pay the price later at the vet! A dogs skin should have shine, you should feel a slight oil when you touch them, no dry flaky skin and slightly see a rib cage. If all these don't apply to your pet then get rid of the chemicals and switch to a higher quality food. My dogs live a very long time because I do my homework. My last dog lived 20 years! Her name was Precious. (see her on my rescue page she was a beauty)
My 3 favorite things to keep my dogs beautiful are these......
1- VITAMINS...
ONE apple cider vinegar pill a day
ONE coconut oil pill a day
ONE vitamin E oil pill a day
ONE wheat germ pill a day!
2- Ground egg shells for calcium
3- orijen six fish dog food with Orijen treats only!
There are so many reasons I give these to my dogs every single day! I always stock them all in my home! And I keep them organized on my counter so I never forget!!!! The photos below show you all my dog vitamins and egg shells before and after I organized them to be on the counter. I get small glass jars from Micheals and a cigar box. This way it looks like on the counter and you won't forget to do it daily!
My dogs are glowing and shiny and beautiful! They are also at the perfect healthy weight. The only chemicals they get is heart guard and their yearly vaccines. That is it! ( heart guard only) Not the plus with additional chemicals. Please see my other remedies below..

My home made all natural bug repellents.
Get a squirt bottle like you would use on your plants. 16 oz
Put a half cup of lemon juice
15 drops of lavender oil
3 teaspoons of vanilla extract
then fill the rest with water! Thats it!
Keep spraying them every half hour. I keep a bottle by the door and when we step outside we all get sprayed with this. It feels great on my skin and smells nice too. We all use it! even on our face! (just cover your dogs eyes first before you spray their face)
Love this!!!!!
My dogs live in a very woody area
All natural Flea Bath Remedy
Blue bottle of DAWN DISH SOAP!!!!!
That is it! just bathe them in it starting from the neck down!
If the fleas are bad then get the all natural flea drop from the pet store called natural defense ! This is used as a preventative not as a killer so start it in the spring. Use all the preventives so you won't need the chemicals when they get out of hand. My apple cider vinegar pills also prevent fleas. Between these both my dogs have never had a flea and we live in the woods!
I use dawn once a week to prevent fleas and get the ones that may be on them. Fleas hate Dawn dish soap.
Press the green button for dawn dish soap instructions.
Fish Oil
Is wonderful for your dog. You only need one to two capsules a day depending on the size of your dog. Only omega 3 not omega 6 or 9! Squirt the capsule on to the dogs food. I poke the capsule with a safety pin and then squirt it all over the food then mix in good. Or slip it in a little peanut butter on a spoon! (so much easier)
Fish Oil prevents certain diseases and helps allergies too. You will notice in a few weeks your dogs fur will be beautiful and shiny. This also helps prevent fatty masses and tons of health issues. You don't have to get the expensive fish oil they all work good , just make sure its Omega 3 only! Meat in the dog food has plenty of Omega 6 and their bodies don't process the Omega 9.. Make sure your food is mostly meat based! Should be the first few ingredients... Notice I said first few!!!!!

First Aid Kit Back Pack
This is a very helpful tip I have learned from experience. Always keep a back pack on your back with a first aid kit in it when at a dog park or out for walk. Once I was at the dog park in the forest and my dog ripped her nail out on a tree brach! I was stuck with nothing to bandage her up with. She was bleeding everywhere and I had to put her in my car like that untill we got home.
So now I learned always keep a back pack on me! I also enrolled in a dog first aid class and became First Aid certified. It only takes a few hours with the red cross and is very affordable. Here is the things I pack now in my first aid back pack.....
(I found a small back pack that I don't mind walking with)
Bee sting kit- Include a credit card to scrape the bee sting out and benadryl for swelling.
Flash light- You will need light in the dark incase of a emergency situation so it can be addressed.
Whistle- Helps call your dog back to you and draws attention to you in a emergency situation.
Glow in the dark collar- Keeps your dog in your sight at night.
Phazyme - Helps prevent stomach twist in a bloat situation
First aid booklet for dogs- Instructions on what to do in emergency situations
Extra Leash- For making a muzzle.
Gauze and Tape - This is a must for open wounds.
Water proof squares for wounds. Sold by the bandaids.
Clippers for shaving wounds
Betadine not peroxide for cleaning the wound!
Keep a lot of gauze. One time my dog lost a nail out in the woods. It bleed so bad and I had nothing with me! I had to put her in the car like that and take her home. It was a huge mess! Even keeping a rag and taping it on will be good. Remember don't let gauze heal to a wound! When you tear it off the scab will come off too!
I will post a link for more tips on what to add to your first aid kit. These are just things I found helpful that they might not list on the links below. I listed the most important ones you will need to keep on you. It will be impossible to fit all the things they list in the links. I listed the basics and most important!
(poop bags are a good one to add also)
Next time you take a road trip or go camping or even just to the dog park keep this at least in your car!!!

What we should look for on our dog food labels.
Stay aways from dog food that has corn, flours, soy, or bi products! copy and paste info below. One more tip. When you buy dog food make sure the first ingredient is meat. Also the food should feel slightly moist or oily to the touch. Never dry to the touch! If the food is dry the skin will be dry. Also if it says added vitamin c for health don't buy it. Their liver produces all the vitamin C they need!

Allergies
Benadryl is a must have to keep in the home for allergies. Benadryl can help with green eye discharge, itching, coughing and more. Check on dosage for your size dog. Most allergies are caused from dog food. I am convinced of this! If they were eating raw meat enzymes their would be no allergy that can survive in their body.
(along with apple cider vinegar to help prevent the flare ups)
Hot Spots...
Try putting black tea in luke warm water and an asprin in the tea. Let the asprin melt, stir and apply tea, asprin mixture with a cotton ball to the hot spot. Also shave the area nicely, clean with Betadine just this once then keep clean with neosporin and keep open to air.. Huge tip ( while hot spot is healing give one coconut oil tablet per day!) heals it fast! I actually give my dogs this daily anyways.. Read up on it! The best thing I have seen so far is the powder from the vet for hot spots. If you can get it if not do this at home.
Dog food containers
Don't keep your dog food in plastic containers!!!!!!!!!
I did for a while until..... I kept having to take my dogs to the vet for vomiting, diarreah and gas. I read up online they say dog food that has meat and fish, which most do, will become stagnant in the plastic an cause bacteria to grow rapid..
Also keeping your dog food in its original bag is better because it has the lined with special material and products for food to stay fresh and safe! My dogs NEVER do the occasional vomit or constant loose stool anymore. PLASTIC IS BAD FOR DOG FOOD!!!! If you have to hide it and have to put it in a plastic container then keep it in the bag inside the plastic container!
